Recently, Germanwatch released the “Climate Change Performance Index“. It compares the emissions trends and climate protection policies of the top 56 CO2 emitting nations and gives a nice, easy to digest ranking of these nations.

Germany came second, right after Sweden. (Lucky bastards with all their hydro energy.)

What’s interesting is that the level of current CO2 emissions only played a partial role in the evaluation. Current politics were at least as important and here Germany scored all the big points.

Overall, no reason to rejoice for anybody. It’s more the one-eyed among the blind type of situation. But using this imagery, the USA (or rather their government) would certainly qualify for blind, deaf and lacking any tactile sense. They came 55th, just ahead of Saudi Arabia.
